Health Institute Australasia is a private college and an Australian Government Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Our offices and campus are located in Southport, which is the main business district for the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Health Institute Australasia has government approval for the teaching of Yoga in three qualifications, namely: Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma. Health Institute Australasia‘s Yoga Teacher Training Programs, (Cert IV @ 600 hours, Diploma @ 1200 hours and Advanced Diploma @1800 hours) vastly exceed the minimum requirements of national and international yoga associations, which are 200 and 500 hours. Health Institute Australasia are the ONLY college in Australia to offer a 3-year Government Accredited Yoga Teacher Training program to International students. As our Yoga Teacher Training and Ayurveda Training courses are CRICOS approved, international students can get a student visa for up to 3 years.
Health Institute Australasia has modern premises which include the Buddha Lounge, office areas and reception. The student facilities include a library, a student lounge plus a kitchenette with tea making facilities, and toilets. There are lecture rooms that are air-conditioned in summer or heated in winter, and include wi-fi facilities and all modern technology. There is a PA system with radio-mikes in the large lecture room, plus movie projector and screen, along with access to broadband internet. There is also a specialist library on campus. We have an air-conditioned yoga and dance studio, which is centrally heated for winter, and has a natural timber floor made from bamboo.

The campus is very close to public transport, with a bus stop just a few metres from our front door, and the new light rail service just down the road. There are many facilities available within 5 minutes’ walk, such as; supermarkets, shopping mall, restaurants, and the main Gold Coast City library which is free to use. There are many types of accommodation available in the area, from motels and apartments to caravan and camping parks, as well as several back-packer hostels. University libraries are accessible by public transport, with Griffith University just a short tram ride away and Bond University being a bus ride. There are several medical facilities within the local vicinity and a 5 minute tram ride to the University hospital.
We make low cost student meals available. These are delicious vegetarian-vegan lunch-box style meals, which are freshly prepared on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Frozen vegetarian meals are also available for you to take home. These include soups and breakfasts.
Health Institute Australasia owns the Nirvana Wellbeing Retreat, which is delightfully located in the Gold Coast hinterland, amongst the picturesque mountains of Beechmont. There are 70 acres of spectacular ecologically managed farmland, providing a perfect backdrop for the work of practical training in organic gardening, or the holding of yoga teacher training classes as well as ayurvedic cooking and nutrition workshops.
